Arena of Pula The Arena is the best-preserved ancient building in Croatia. The limestone walls reach a height of almost 30 metres. The 72 arches on the two floors, 64 rectangular openings on the upper floor and 15 gates leading to the arena make it a stadium with a capacity of 23,000 spectators. The amphitheatre was used for gladiatorial games and horse shows. Today it is used for concerts, films and even ice hockey.
