The vegetable garden
The vegetable garden is the highlight of Villandry's gardens. It consists of nine fields of the same size, but each with a different geometric pattern, the vegetables and the flowers differ from square to square also in the colours, which gives the garden the look of a multi-coloured chessboard.
The origins of the vegetable garden go back to the Middle Ages and the monks. The monks loved to arrange their vegetables in geometric shapes.
