Arrived in town we are in the middle of the Glendale Festival which takes place every year at this time. On this Sunday the Wooler High Street becomes a festival mile with entertainment, music, crafts, booths and food.

This is morris dancing and it was a very traditional dance. There were people called mummers who would visit pubs and entertain the people then collect money for drinks too. In addition there were folk music groups and folk groups who would sing songs that told a story. I grew up in the folk revival of the 1970's and enjoyed a lot of these traditional forms of entertainment.

This is apparently a typical English dance - and it does look amusing. Compared to some dancing typical of other countries, it's rather boring.
