Kirche Flintsbach am Inn
St. Martin
Flintsbach am Inn wurde 986 als Flinsbach erstmals urkundlich erwähnt. Der Name geht auf mittelhochdeutsch flins ‚Kiesel, Felsgestein‘ zurück.
Flintsbach wurde erstmals erwähnt in den Traditionscodices des Brixener Domstifts in den Jahren 975–1006. Um 1165 erschien es im berühmten Falkensteiner Codex des Grafen Siboto IV. von Falkenstein und war der Hauptort dieser Grafen, die eines der bedeutendsten Geschlechter Südostbayerns waren und die vier Herrschaftsgebiete Neuburg bei Vagen (Bad Aibling), Falkenstein im Inntal, Hartmannsberg westlich des Chiemsees und Hernstein im Wiener Wald besaßen. Das Ortsbild Flintsbachs wird beherrscht von der um 1730 ins Barocke umgebauten katholischen Pfarrkirche St. Martin. Abraham Millauer schuf einen stattlichen Bau, in dem heute prachtvolle Rokokoaltäre zu bewundern sind und ein großartiges Deckenfresco von Sebastian Rechenauer aus dem Jahre 1803. Auf dem alten Kirchfriedhof finden sich mehrere Reihen kunstvoll gearbeiteter schmiedeeisener Grabkreuze vor der spätgotischen Allerheiligenkapelle. www.flintsbach.de/flintsbach-erleben-und-entdecken/pfarrkirche-st-martin.html
Von der im 12.Jh. erwähnten, romanischen Pfarrkirche ist wenig bekannt. Reste von Grundmauern wurden bei der Renovierung1965/66 im Boden des Chores gefunden.
Im 15. Jh. wurde ein gotischer Bau errichtet.
Die Kirche ist sehr reich und kunstvoll usgestattet
