These two passport-photos seem to belong together.
The old man
found at a market in Udelnaya, St. Petersburg
Ink says 14. 10. (19)34. (Correct me if I'm wrong, I still have trouble reading even cyrillic fonts let alone script...)
34 wasn't exactly peaceful year in history, with Stalin in power, Hitler becoming the fuhrer just a few week earlier, and in a few days the communists would start marching in China. Where did he march?
Lady
found at a fleamarket in Tampere, Finland. It says "Rakastathan vain minua?" ("Will you only love me?/Am I you only one") 16. 9. -63.
The fact that the text is in brackets led me to think it might be a quote from a song, I need to ask that from some of those sixties children.
I found her from a pile f family photos, and she didn't seem to be in any of the other photos. I was immediately drawn to her challenging look, great jacket and tousled hair - she must've been a bit of a rebel.
