St. Andrew's Church in Kiev is an Orthodox church in honor of the Apostle Andrew the First-Called. It was built according to the project of the architect Rastrelli by order of Empress Elizabeth Petrovna in 1749-1754 on the place where, according to legend, the Apostle Andrew the First-Called during his journey to the north erected a cross (according to the chronicle "The Tale of Bygone Years").

The Intercession Monastery in Kiev is an Orthodox convent, founded on January 11, 1889 by Grand Duchess Alexandra Petrovna Romanova (nee Alexandra-Frederick-Wilhelmina of Oldenburg, monasticism - Anastasia).
The design and construction of the monastery was carried out by Vladimir Nikolaev (1847-1911). The foundation stone of the St. Nicholas Cathedral took place on August 21, 1896. The foundation stone of the cathedral was laid by Emperor Nicholas II. The construction of the cathedral took 15 years.
In 1981, St. Nicholas Cathedral suffered from a fire that happened from a lightning strike on the roof of the cathedral. The cathedral was restored to its original form only in 2006-2010.
