The city is located on a hill and is surrounded by a fortress wall of the 12th century, the city clock tower was erected in the 16th century. The clock dials are located on two sides of the tower on the inside of the fortress
The historic center of the city was formed in the 11th century. In the Middle Ages, Anghiari was of great strategic importance due to its location.
