Even the arrival was impressive, and confirmed our expectation. This hotel is approached via a long private drive with a security gate at the entrance, so once on the site it was peaceful and a different world from the busy roads around the area.

I'm afraid that we are now very much converted to low impact hotels these days, which usually follow the local style of construction, and the pre-requisite is always to be surrounded or near wild ground, preferably with woodland. The facilities are there but tastefully blended so as not to be too intrusive.
