The first globular springtail of the season for me. A fine specimen of Calvatomina nr superba exploring a fallen leaf in my garden. This one is about 1mm in length.

A fine specimen of a female Metellina segmentata at the Bog Mine, Shropshire. Taken on October 2nd 2019. This species is common across most of the UK. This is an in camera stack of ten images created with an Olympus OMD E-M1 mk11.

Dorcus parallelipipedus, The Lesser Stag Beetle

A fine example of Dorcus parallelipipedus, the Lesser Stag Beetle. A large species that can reach about 32mm in length. They are quite common in my garden often being found in or around the old rotting logs and thee trunks that I have in various places. Taken at Shrewsbury, Shropshire on 24th June 2019.

The first Corizus hyoscyami I have seen this year. Found sunning itself on an ornamental conifer in my garden, Shrewsbury, Shropshire.

A fine specimen of the globular springtail, Dicyrtomina saundersi. The span across the antennae of this one is about 1.5mm.

A large springtail, Pogonognathellus flavescens I think, about 5mm in length. Found on rotting wood, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, January 2019.

Campanula rotundifolia, Harebell in England or Bluebell in Scotland I believe. This one was growing on old spoil heaps at Snailbeach lead Mine in Shropshire.

Dicyrtomina saundersi, a globular springtail exploring a leaf in my garden. These are extremely common at this time of the year. This specimen is about 1.5mm in length.
