Green Tiger Beetle Larva

Green Tiger Beetle Larva
This was a bit of a lucky shot, had noticed many small holes in the gravely ground and wondered what had made them, some were obviously from mining bees, with piles of excavated spoil adjacent to them. These were different with a small funnel shaped area around the entrance to the hole, a small, quick movement at the entrance to one of these showed it was occupied by something so I sat there with the camera and waited hoping whatever it was would show again, it did and the image above is the result, not perfect as I had to guess where to focus and just hit the shutter as soon as I saw movement in the viewfinder, they are very quick and only appear for a split second before retreating back down their burrow. Its the first time I have actually seen the larva of a Green tiger Beetle. Uncropped image.
