KN0368 KENORA - [BRINGING THE DOUBLE TRACK TO KENORA 1905-1910 - CROWD]

KN0368 KENORA - [BRINGING THE DOUBLE TRACK TO KENORA 1905-1910 - CROWD]
POSTCARD

Date: Not evident. Not Posted. The double-track lines were constructed through the Kenora area between 1905 and 1910.

Publisher / Photographer: Unidentified

Notation: This card was part of a larger set of Kenora cards. The Kenora location is not verified on the card itself.

I am not sure what is going on i this scene - all these shovel-toting men positioned on the incline, but there is a derailed locomotive evident on that side of the tracks.

Alan Mays has particularly liked this photo

I was going to say that it must be the wreck near Deception Bay that's on my postcard (perhaps toward the end of the clean-up process) but it's not the same engine. How many times did this happen. "Losing one engine is a misfortune. To lose two looks like carelessness." (to paraphrase Oscar Wilde). www.ipernity.com/doc/wintorbos/41797842

I think it is probably a different event. The locomotive in mine looks a lot smaller. (But your photo is much more dramatic!

If I'd read my own commentary on my photo more carefully I'd have remembered that there were supposed to have been several such incidents at that time!
