POSTCARD

Date: Posted September 7, 1910 from Bertie in Winnipeg to someone in Edendale, New Zealand.

Publisher / Photographer: Valentine & Sons #105,178

Notation: It is the message on the reverse of this card that caught my attention: "Altho' this is called the Main St. it is not the best. A large number of the present buildings are the original and are coming down as the ground is far too valuable. The building in the distance is the Canadian Pacific railway hotel containing hundreds of rooms & costing £ $250,000 to build. It is always full altho' the cheapest rate is $5 or £ per day. The tall building in the foreground is one of the numerous banks. Thier name is legion here in W'peg & they are all built most substantially. There is yet a whole month before my steamer leaves for Fiji while there is a connection for 10 days so it will give me time to see the island. Expect to arrive in Aukland about November 9 or 10th. Sreamer's name as far as Fiji is "Marana".
