Grasslands National Park, West Block

I took this from a high point in the West Block of Grasslands National Park in the late afternoon or early evening. I liked the way the spine of the hill, the watercourse in the valley and the clouds aligned, sort of.

Driving along a back road in Grasslands National Park I encountered a single bison grazing close by. I was privileged to spend about 15 minutes taking photos of this magnificent animal. It moved slowly and never showed any signs that it was disturbed by my presence. That is a good thing, because they can move quickly if they have a mind to.

I encountered a pair of bison in Grasslands National Park in June 2012. In this image I decided to show these large mammals in context with the huge landscape where they graze.
