Neue Staatsgalerie- Foyer

Neue Staatsgalerie- Foyer
Opened in 1984, the New State Gallery in Stuttgart (James Stirling, Michael Wilford & Associates) caused quite a stir because of its colourful post modern architecture. Especially the bright green rubber flooring in the foyer was controversial. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neue_Staatsgalerie

This reminds me of the colours we inherited in our Norwegian apartment in 2005. The lime green was especially prevalent with cushions and occasional tables. It wasn't a colouir scheme I would have chosen, but I grew to love it, and this photo certainly brightens up my day.

Thanks a lot, Amelia! Yes, such a bright green is rather unexpected but it can work! At home I usually prefer the grey green celadon tones.

Beautiful images of this colourful interior, Gudrun. Probably the most comfortable benches I've seen here this week. HBM.

Thank you so much, George! I guess they are comfortable once you sit - my knees would give me a bit of trouble getting up and down;-)

Controversial and hard to keep clean, they did the same in a place here and cleaners said it was quite a job to clean.
I don't dislike it.

Obrigada, Isabel! The green flooring seems to keep better than the grey versions that used to be popular for offices or official buildings. The grey quickly looked dirty even after thorough cleaning.

Controversial it may be but it is striking and I think it works well here. The floor cushions made me smile though - no way I would ever get up again!!!

Well captured Gudrun
