Laguna Honda (4114m) is one of a string of salt lagoons in SW Bolivia near the border to Chile. The highland lagoons are a main breeding area of the endemic James's flamingo.

Laguna Honda (4114m) gehört zu einer Reihe von Salzlagunen in SW-Bolivien nahe der Grenze zu Chile. Diese Hochlandlagunen sind das Hauptbrutgebiet der endemischen James-Flamingos.

Das ist eine halbe Tagreise weiter am Salar de Uyuni gewesen....Du kannst davon ausgehen, wenn die Rechten die Wahl "gewinnen", dann gehen diese ganzen Lizenzen an die Amis.

It never ceases to amazing me how animals have adapted to living and thriving in what appear to us to be the harshest of conditions. A really fine composition of this almost unearthly landscape.

Thanks very much, Doug! The birds find plenty of algae and small crabs. The whole area is volcanic so there are hot springs and not everything freezes over.
