The Five Sisters
York Minster is famous for its medieval stained glass.
The Five Sisters Window in the north transsept dates from 1260. Its five Early English lancet windows with their Grisaille glass are each 17m high and and 1,5m wide.
1st note: the West Window in Decorated style, called the Heart of Yorkshire, dates from 1338.
2nd and 3rd note: Jesse Window 1310.
(The great East Window, the largest expanse of medieval stained glass in the world, was being restored at the time of our visit)
