Reykholt church

Reykholt church was built in 1886/87 and is rather typical of Icelandic churches of that time.
Reykholt's most famous citizen was politician and writer Snorri Sturluson (1179-1241), poet of Heimskringla, the Prose Edda and probably also Egill's Saga.

:-) Was Barockes würde hier wie ein absoluter Fremdkörper wirken;-) Die Sternendecke überm Altar ist wohl das Maximum an Üppigkeit, was es hier so gibt. LG Gudrun

Thanks a lot, George! Indeed, there seems to have been a "style" for these churches. In this case they were mostly shipped from Norway in prefabricated form and just assembled. I don't know if this was the case in Australia too.
