Wow, what a deal! One bottle of perfume for me, one for my "confirmed bachelor" best friend, and one for my special Treet Pineapple-Olive Flambe' sandwich! From the June issue of Western Family magazine.

Coronet Brandy Leaflet (2), c1946

Just think of them as Snap, Crackle and Pop, after hours. Other sections of the promo include recipes for Coronet Duck Supreme, Coronet Surprise Dessert (brandy-soaked raisins and applesauce in a cake "sandwich"), Kidneys Coronet, Easy Mince Pie... The best drink namewise has to be the Coronet Stratosphere. ("2 parts brandy, 1 part rum, 1 level tsp. sugar. Shake well with ice. Strain into cocktail glass. Add a dash of lemon juice.") You try it first. I'm leery.

Meet the Brothers Snifter, so immune to the ravages of age that they could have appeared any time from the mid-Forties to the early Sixties! I assigned both artist and year based on this ad , since it has a similar pitch. Front and back sections of a fold-out published by The Cresta Bianca Wine Company, Inc., San Francisco, California.

In my experience, Rit always made for better poetry than wardrobe transformation. Maybe the rest of you had better luck with it, though. Clipped from the pages of July's Everywoman's magazine (L) and June's Good Housekeeping magazine.

Looking at those chairs up top makes me hungry for molded salmon loaf. I don't know why. From the February issue of Good Housekeeping magazine.

"...I know that once you start using Milnot yourself, you're going to fit it into dozens of your favorite recipes. That's the grand thing about Milnot-- it fits in everywhere!" -- Mary Elizabeth Wright, B.S., M.S. Mary can't tell you what's really in it, though. She'd like to, but the company knows where her family lives and, well...

Uh, why did you dump gravy on the waffle instead of the biscuit, Ma?

Appropriately enough, the bowl-beater combo later inspired Devo's, uh, milliner!

Please don't feel bad if your first couple of tries at the pottery wheel are less than perfect. It just takes a little practice, and soon you'll be producing professional-quality work without breaking a sweat!

(L) The splayed, gutted carcass of the mustkrat will cook up extra good and tender if you have Pa run it over with the pickup truck a few times right after it's been skinned! (R) Save the heads and serve them separately for extra economy!

I don't see how any of this makes up for the absent magazine rack. Also, did they hide the toilet paper in that copper spray bottle thing, or what? From the June issue of Good Housekeeping magazine.

A young Archie Andrews treasured those dinners over at young Betty's house-- except on Thanksgiving. The Turkey MacStuffing was just too weird.

Melmac Ad, 1957

"But, Mom! This coat's too hot for summertime!" "Just hush and worship the magic plastic discs, Susie!" (And, from the last three pics featuring humans, do you get the feeling that one woman did all the modeling for every ad that appeared in the Fifties? Yeah, me too.) Clipped from the June issue of Good Housekeeping magazine.

Virtue Brothers Furniture Ad, c1953

"Chaste clean lines and delicately executed details such as the slender chrome legs sheathed in grey-ebony plastic tips and the fine-line metal edged top... encased in enduring Duran [Reg U.S. Trademark] in the new pattern 'Nobby," which resembles a handloomed modern texture... Design by Jakdeser/Theriot." They sure knew how to make sitting down to cornflakes and instant coffee seem sexy.
