Le Monastier-sur-Gazeille – Festival du Monastier

Le Monastier-sur-Gazeille is a town with approximately 1,800 inhabitants. Around 1900, when rural depopulation began, the population was twice as high.

In August 2025, 10,000 visitors gathered here to experience the 36th “Festival du Monastier”. A festival that revolves around brass instruments across a very broad spectrum, from Baroque to Hip Hop and back.

The Franco-American group Bad Fat blends, rap, electronic music and jazzlines. Rap here has good brass basses, driving drums and with American singer Napoleon Maddox the beand creates a a funky jungle.
