Tournus - Saint-Valérien
Tournus not only offers the wonderful Saint-Philibert. Just around the corner is the small romanesque eglise Saint-Valérien. Before the monks from Normoutier came to Tournus bringing the relics of St. Philibert, the abbey in Tournus was dedicated to the martyr Saint Valérien. This church was owned by the abbey, later a parish church it is now an antique shop.
Here a detail from the door. The handle shows a smiling face, probably not a monk, as a monk would have a different hair-cut (tonsure).
