hca[25] - outer door

The outer west doorway.
Round top arches like this are typical of the "Norman" period, and match the founding date of 1150.
I can't make out the inscription - probably in Latin !
Above the doorway are three panels, the outer pair probably had armorial badges.

The door is, I think, Oak and I presume that it had to be replaced after the arson attack in 2006 which destroyed the roof and much of the internal features. I get the impression that the blackened areas date from 2006.
