The lower building of the water pumping station that supplied cooling water abstracted from the R.Irthing to the "Blue Streak" test facilities at what is now RAF Spadeadam on the hills above, the upper building is visible on the skyline. This system dates from approx 1955 and has been derelict since the early 1970s.
