As seen in late December 2015, following the destruction wrought by Storm Desmond. Unfortunately, Pooley wasn't the only place to lose their Bridge, either completely (as here) or to the severe damage wrought by spates of floodwater.

The authorities were quite quick to erect a "Bailey" bridge to restore communications [as it is a vital link on the A592] and whilst Cumbria County Council worked out how to afford replacing destroyed or damaged bridges.

Some sources suggest over 800 road, rail and footbridges and 300km of roads were damaged or destroyed by Storms Desmond, Eva and Frank in December 2015.
By 2019 nearly 150 roads and bridges in the north-west county have still not been fixed despite the storm occurring in 2015, nearly four years later; although 830 projects have already taken place, another 115 are currently happening and as many as 32 have yet to begin.
