STR - Barber with train

STR - Barber with train
Barber with passenger train almost ready to leave Alston (South Tynedale Railway) The Gas waggon contains the air compressor and reservoirs for the braking system, as Barber is not fitted with the necessary equipment for air brakes.
E2A - During 2016/7 the South Tyndale Railway built another platform on the line of this fence, and equipped the Station with an overall roof. The trees have been felled in preparation for this work.

This little waggon is liveried as "GAS" partly because "Barber" used to run at a gas-producing plant in Harrogate. The low cab profile is so the locomotive could pass under the limited clearances around the retorts.

from Wikipedia - A Thomas Green and sons in Leeds built the 0-6-2 saddle tank locomotive BARBER, she was delivered to Harrogate Gas Company in 1908 .

if you scroll down this page, there are details for Barber --- www.south-tynedale-railway.org.uk/locomotives-stock
