Hospitality on the train
Prosecco, strawberries and 'Milliionaire shortbread' on the train from Fort William to Mallaig.

We should confess now that, although The Jacobite steam locomotive is meant to pull the train, it was actually TOO HOT to run a steam locomotive on the day we were there - the authorities were anxious that sparks from the engine might set off fires, as there has been no rain here for weeks, and so the train was pulled by a historic diesel instead. (apparently, a few years ago when one of the Harry Potter films was being filmed on this train, sparks DID set off a fire near Glenfinnan).

I've just noticed a fence in the blurry distance, so this can be a HFF!

Oh great, I could eat and drink this for a second breakfast;-) Much better than the cheese sandwiches (yuck!) they used to have in the buffet car decades ago. HFF, Rabbit!

Memories of my holiday near Mallaig and the great Glennfinnan Viaduct. Sorry that you were not pulled by that great steam engine but as you say fire is always a problem in weather like this. A bit disappointing about the steam loco, but a sensible and understandable decision. I expect the prosecco made up for it though.

I think rabbit might have been waiting impatiently for you to take the photo........he seems to be staring hungrily at those strawberries!. I hope he left the shortbread for you at least..!!

I remember the era before diesel and now they are historic ! What does that make me ! Hope you had a wonderful day. Did the train hospitality run to carrot wine ? I believe it's easy to make and tastes good. Takes two years to mature though. Maybe stick to prosecco.

A lovely 'high-speed' fence shot. It is a lovely trip even without the steam train. I hope you weren't too disappointed and that Rabbit settled for the strawberries in lieu of carrot cake!
