Bonobomädchen Khaya (Wilhelma)
My darling bonobo girl Khaya. She is a wonderful lass, playful and thoughtful (we've played tag each on her side of the glass or wire, and we have exchanged many silent views), curious (she loves to inspect the contents of my bags), and so beautiful. <3
Bonobos live only in the Democratic Republic of Congo. They are endangered (EN A4cd in the Red List) due to both habitat loss and hunting for bushmeat, the latter activity having increased dramatically during the current civil war.
