One horse town

One horse town
A horse and rider pick their way across the River Esk at low water, adjacent to Eskmeals Viaduct. The houses visible above the horse is the village of Ravenglass. Cumbria.

My guess is that the horse & rider might be wise not to venture there at this moment, as the deluge must be sweeping down all the Cumbrian rivers. I suppose the bridge itself may be at risk. Anyway a lovely image of more peaceful times.

The bridges are sturdily built in those parts. They need to be! But that's no reason for complacency, in the light of recent events. A look at 'Realtimetrains' reveals that train services on the Cumbrian Coast are running normally.
