Another view of Salts Mill in Saltaire. A classic industrial scene of mill and canal in a Yorkshire dale. That beautiful tower is in fact a chimney built in 1868 and is based on the campanile of the church of Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari in Venice!!

The original former woollen mill now houses the brilliant 1853 art Gallery & David Hockney exhibition as well as various other offices and units. The New Mill with the tower is the home of the Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust.

HFF Pete. Definitely the flashest looking chimney of any building I know of. The fence is more than adequate to keep one from falling into the canal.

A wonderful and interesting picture, which I like very much!
Very nice composition. Certainly these old mills and their chimneys are a special part of our industrial history, and Mr Salt was one of the better mill owners I believe!
