Great Central Railway Loughborough Leicestershire 13th September 2017
British Railways Standard 5 4-6-0 73156 with cylinder cocks open accelerates along the Down Loop to head its first train of the day which was also its first train of the century! The last time it pulled a train was when allocated to Bolton shed prior to withdrawal in 1967.

On this inaugural day it was carrying its original BR smokebox numberplate and an original shed plate from its last allocation; 9K = Bolton.

This engine came out of Woodham's scrapyard with ALL removable bits removed so Trigger's broom analogy is definitely fitting! It had no tender either so that is a complete new-build. It probably never did leave shed in this condition in BR days although the axlebox covers were originally yellow.
Thanks. I did think about cropping out the cars but that would have cropped out the signal box too so left them in. Sadly the cars (including mine!) can't be parked anywhere else.
