A Duchess at Goostrey
Goostrey
6233 passing through Goostrey station with the Scarborough Flyer from Crewe.
Thanks to Eagle142 for transport.
Through the works
Standard tank action past the derelict buildings at the Thomas Bolton copperworks at Froghall. I posted a similar view back in February but decided to process another of the shots in a less contrasty form.
Scarborough Flyer
Another shot from the Scarborough Flyer at Goostrey with 6233 at the head. I thought for a while and decided that it's better to leave in the two guys by the signal rather than attempting to crop them out.
Above Winkhill
8624 climbing hard above Winkhill banked by 71000 on an afternoon service to Caldon Low. It may have been dull today but the steam action was still excellent.
Tulyar
December 1981, and the last days of the Deltics in British Railways service were nigh. A spirited run from Newcastle to Liverpool had just been completed by 55-015, Tulyar. On leaving the train I grabbed this view at the buffer stops in Lime Street station. The blue V of the exhausts stands out well in the station lights.
Fuller railbike
Economy transport at Froghall as the Fuller brothers pass on their railbike during the annual velocipede rally.
Dividend
North Staffordshire Railway Dividend Warrant , 1867. I wouldn't mind achieving that sort of return at the moment!
Deltic out of Middlewich
Difficult light but a little bit of glint from Deltic 55 022 as it rumbles slowly along the branch out of Middlewich with the Ribble Lune Railtour.
Working in the dark
The penultimate Sunday train up to Caldon Low was due at the end of the line at 15.50. The reality was that 34028 was only passing Ladymeadows Farm at 16.00, about 20 minutes late. By then it was almost dark, so it was up to ISO 1600 and hope for the best. The bush and gatepost are not in the ideal position, but this is sharper than some of the other images I took here. I was invited onto the field by the landowner who kindly held my dogs' leads whilst I was taking the photos.

Green Arrow's driver takes a few moments to chat with people on the platform at Froghall. The locomotive and tender were so shiny that the people are reflected on the sides
Token exchange
Exchange of tokens as the steam service crosses a dmu at Consall station on the Churnet Valley Railway.
Scarborough Flyer at Soss Moss
Another dull morning for photographing the Scarborough Flyer, this time approaching the bridge at Soss Moss between Chelford and Alderley Edge. I was hoping to catch a few cows in the foreground, but by the time the train arrived they had moved too far up the field towards me. I could hear the train start from the loop at Chelford and it was wonderful to here it working hard all the way to where it came into view. Thanks once again to Eagle142 for transport and good company.
Winkhill
34028 passes under the accommodation bridge just before the site of Winkhill Station during the Sunday of the steam gala on the Caldon Low line.
Crossed wires
34028 banked by 44767 above Winkhill and heading for Caldon Low. The Lafarge cement works stands prominent in the background. Maybe one day cement will come from there by rail.
Fallgate
A wonderful industrial railway scene from the Macclesfield model railway exhibition. This is a model of the Fallgate station and yard on the Ashover Light Railway as it was in the late 1930s.
