Fireplace

Fireplace
The Grade One listed Pierhead Building in Cardiff, built in 1897 for the Bute Docks Company to the design of the English architect William Frame is a terracotta palace. Inside the building is just as lavishly filled with terracotta as the exterior. This fireplace is an astonishing example of the art, although I doubt it was ever intended to hold a fire with those tiles in the back. The terracotta was supplied by Ruabon based brickmakers JC Edwards & Co. and the building is now a visitor and education centre for the National Assembly.
