Commerce Works

Commerce Works
These 2 bottle kilns in Longton were built in the late 19th century as part of the Commerce Works pottery. The pottery was run by the Chetham family from 1796 - 1869 and then taken over by H.J Aynsley in 1873. Final closure came in the 1990s and the site has stood derelict since. The building is listed Grade II but I doubt that will save it.

Leider bedeutet Denkmalschutz manchmal geschützter Verfall, wie auch dieses Beispiel zeigt;

That is well captured !
I do hope that it survives - actually, I don't know of another setting exactly like that.
But the UK seems to be set on destroying a lot of industrial heritage with little thought.
{Whitehaven has cleared almost all it's heritage away, and now has little on offer to attract either tourists or business to the town}
