Wendel-Vuillemin

Wendel-Vuillemin Mine - Carreau Wendel, Petite-Rosselle, Lorraine (Saar-Warndt coal mining basin). This shaft was sunk between 1862 and 1889. The Carreau Wendel shafts in the background were modernised in the 1950s and a new shaft (Wendel 3) sunk in 1952. Mining on this site finally ended in 2001 when Wendel 3 was closed. The remains now form a museum.
