Flue Gas Desulphurisation

Flue Gas Desulphurisation
EDF Energy opened the flue gas desulphurisation plant at its Cottam power station in 2007. The project, which commenced in 2002, cost £108 million.
The FGD plants operate without flue gas reheat, which allowed the FGD units to be placed closely around the chimney, with a relatively simple ductwork design. This required significant alterations to the chimney flues to minimise any risk of droplet carryover resulting from operation with water saturated flue gas.
