Castles in the air
The gondola of the 1906 built Newport Transporter Bridge flies across the Usk. This is the tallest of the three transporter bridges surviving in the UK and also the longest span.

Ran out of time as they were closing down for the day just after I had a ride over on the gondola. Had an excellent day out and about above Cwmbran yesterday. Your name did arise when discussing local industry with my host. Hope your ears were burning. ;-)

My eyes were burning from coke fumes and steam in Abergavenny. You were visiting Henllys Colliery? If so did you arrive late by train? And was I known to your host?

Didn't realize there were any of these in the UK. The only one I had heard about was the one in Rendsburg, north of Hamburg. I've never heard of these having been built in the U.S.
