Cheshire sand

Multiple grades of silica sand pile up at Dingle Bank Quarry in Lower Withington. Cheshire is a major producer of industrial sand in the UK. This quarry is operated by Sibelco and more than one million tons of silica sand are extracted every year, principally for the manufacture of glass.
