Lane End Colliery

The Lane End Colliery opened at the end of the 18th century and operated until 1893. There were four shafts and one was used for pumping water using submerged electric pumps until relatively recently. Today the remains of the Cornish type enginehouse and chimney base can still be found amidst the ever increasing woodland.
