Where Dolphins Frolic

10 Apr 2019 8 6 598
The highlands of the New York Mountains of Mojave National Preserve are the only known habitat of terrestrial cetaceans, including the elusive mojave rock dolphin. Over the past few years I have returned to this secret remote area in my study of of these unique creatures. Like their marine cousins, mojave rock dolphins are very intelligent and playful. Skeptical cetologists have branded me as a quack and charlatan seeking attention, so I have taken photographs to back up my research and ongoing studies. This photo was taken by a Hasselblad 500C medium format film camera with a Carl Zeiss Planar 1:2.8 f=80mm lens and Kowa L-1A ø67 filter + adapter using CineStill 50D film, the negative scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitally rendered with Photoshop.

The Walls Came Tumbling Down

08 Apr 2019 7 2 455
According to Joshua 6:1-27, the walls of Jericho fell after Joshua's Israelite army marched around the city and blew their trumpets. Although excavations at Tell es-Sultan, the biblical Jericho, have failed to produce data to substantiate the biblical story, I suggest the archaeologists come here. The area is appropriately full of Joshua trees and the walls? . . . Well, I hate to blow my trumpet, but yes, the walls are indeed tumbling down. This photo was taken by a Asahi Pentax 6 X 7 medium format film camera and a Super-Multi-Coated Takumar/6X7 1:4.5/75mm lens with a Zenza Bronica 82mm L-1A filter using Kodak Portra 160 film, the negative scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitally rendered with Photoshop.

Papal Observance

With Easter weekend upon us, I was privileged to be in attendance during the pontiff's visit to my remote campsite, deep in the Mojave National Preserve. I was both surprised and pleased that the liturgical schedule of His Holiness included The Granite Mountains. Upon further reflection, this unique and beautiful geologic formation is indeed a divine creation. This photo was taken by a Hasselblad 500C medium format film camera with a Carl Zeiss Planar 1:2.8 f=80mm lens and Kowa L-1A ø67 filter + adapter using Fuji160NS film, the negative scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitally rendered with Photoshop.

No Vacancy

Immigration is a divisive issue in both Europe and the USA. On April 5, 2019 - President Trump declared America "full" as he warned illegal immigrants and asylum seekers to turn back from the southern border amid a surge in arrivals. I thought that I should check out the vacancy of my country several hours north of the Mexican/Californian border where Mr. Trump made this statement, to see how crowded the conditions were. Leggy
