Birds of Alberta 2

Closer than usual
Magpies are usually difficult to get close to, but I was lucky this particular afternoon. The late afternoon sun picked up on the irridescence.

Contemplation
I think I have run out of words to put beneath this Chickadee photo. Perhaps I'll just say thank you for your patience in viewing yet more photos of the same birds.

Surprise visitor
I was thrilled to bits this afternoon in Weaselhead when a couple of Gray Jays flew down to the bushes near where I was standing. These made my day! The highest this photo got in Explore was #141 on 16th January 2007.

Little gymnast
I just expect this little Chickadee to "work the bar", swinging over and over it like a gymnast!

Abstract art
I was going to delete this photo but then decided to crop it and use it. Caught the tail end and claw of, I think, a Downy Woodpecker. There was something about the colours that I liked, as well as the little pattern of dots.

Gray Jay
I didn't even need to crop this photo, the Gray Jay was so close. I hadn't had the chance to photograph a Gray Jay for a few years and those old photos left a lot to be desired. So, I'm happy with the improvement.

Gotta keep warm
Love all those tiny feathers. No wonder this Gray Jay is able to keep warm in our Canadian winters.
