Dropping in to say Hello
This male Downy Woodpecker flew down to the hand of someone (Darlene) who was with us yesterday morning when we were walking from Burnsmead to Highway 22X, on the east side of the Bow River, in Fish Creek Park. It's such a thrill to have one of these birds on ones hand - it happens so rarely! I have had a female Downy on my hand on two occasions - and she didn't look anywhere near as big as this guy : )
