Barred Owl
I love the deep, dark eyes of the Barred Owl. This particular bird lives in the walk-through aviary at the Calgary Zoo and sometimes sits in a tree right next to the little path. Though we do get this species of owl in the wild, I have still never seen one. These owls are rare to uncommon year round in Alberta.
