Lincoln's Inn undercroft
The undercroft was a place of burial, on one of the walls, there is a map with the names of all those interred here...
In the 18th century the undercroft became a place for people to leave their unwanted babies. The records of the Inn show payments to people to care for the abandoned children, who would usually be given the surname ‘Lincoln’.

Purfleet memorial
Memorial to the 26 soldiers from Purfleet who were lost at sea during 1st World War. A row of saluting Tommy sihouettes face the Thames.

Part of a submerged forest dating back to about 6,000 years ago! Some of it is exposed on the Thames foreshore at Rainham Marshes. The forest, consisting of fallen tree trunks and roots, is of Neolithic age, a time when sea level was much lower.
