Picture Post 2
The Picture Post, published between 1938 and 1957; a pioneer of photojournalism. Now a lonely, faded painted poster on Stockwell Road.
In January 1941 Tom Hopkinson [its editor] published his Plan for Britain. This included minimum wages throughout industry, full employment, child allowances, a national health service, the planned use of land and a complete overhaul of education. This document led to discussions about post-war Britain and was the forerunner of the Beveridge Report that was published in December 1943 (quoted from www.spartacus.schoolnet.co.uk/Jpicturepost.htm)
Now a mere ghost advert, meaningless to all who walk by, fades silently away just like the noble ideals of yesteryear ....

Old Kent Road
Sometimes it is difficult to tell what the absence / the missing bit is telling us.... Was there a poster before they repainted, that subsequently fell off? Did they run out of paint? Did they try to emulate Rothko - or did Rothko get his inspiration from these walls....

rust to rust
Mudlarking... I came upon this flattened metal bucket almost already returned to dust... It took me a while to actually understand it was the bucket dissolving and taking on the colours of the surrounding stones and bricks.
Nature's endless metamorphosis.
