Happy Fence Friday, All. The Beecroft Building is one of the buildings forming part of the Department of Physics, University of Oxford. The building is named after its part-funder Adrian Beecroft. The building is specifically focused on theoretical, condensed matter and quantum physics. It was officially opened on 17th September 2018. The building provides high quality office space for theorists above ground and state-of-the-art laboratories below ground. Architects Hawkins\Brown worked closely with contractors lead by Laing O'Rourke and the department to create a building for the next generation of Physics.

Merton College Chapel, Oxford. The College Chapel dates back to the end of the 13th century and stands at the heart of the College.

Happy Fence Friday, All Holywell Music Room, Holywell Street, Oxford. The Music Room is the city of Oxford's chamber music hall and is part of Wadham College. It is said to be the oldest purpose-built music room in Europe, and hence Britain's first concert hall. It was built in 1748.

Happy Fence Friday, All. Was struggling to find a 'fence' shot but realised there was a very small bit of a fence here :-)) This is part of the Clarendon Building in Oxford. Now, that's a bit of a surprise that I should use an Oxford photo....I guess :-)))

Happy Fence Friday, All Bulbourne Yard Extract from the Canal & River Trust - "Bulbourne Yard – The Future Bulbourne Yard on the Grand Union Canal near Tring is an important historic site on the canal network comprising a unique collection of canalside workshops, offices and dwellings.The site was historically used for the construction of lock gates and other waterway infrastructure. However the layout, configuration and access to the buildings were designed predominantly for manual working with small workshops and low ceiling heights. The decision was made in 2003 to relocate production to more modern workshops at Stanley Ferry and Bradley that could accommodate mechanised production and provide better access to larger vehicles. Therefore the Canal & River Trust (the Trust) do not see any operational use or need for the buildings in the future. The site is now largely disused, many of the buildings themselves are in a poor state of repair and require significant investment to ensure they are preserved for the future." I hadn't visited this area for quite a while and when I visited just recently (18 September 2024) I was stunned to find there had clearly been significant investment because the whole area has been completely transformed and now includes some impressive housing too. The nearby pub (Junction Arms) has also been given an impressive makeover. I had the car with me so I couldn't have any alcoholic refreshments :-( Just had to be content with a diet Coke and a bag of crisps :-) Was also impressed with the pub menu so may well go back for more photography and have a proper snack too :-)

Happy Fence Friday, All. These farm buildings are kind of within the grounds of Stowe Landscape Gardens. But, I don't know if they are the responsibility of the National Trust or whether they are privately owned. Happy Fence Friday, All Palladian Bridge, Stowe Landscape Gardens. I don't know if I could say there is a "concrete fence" here that is part of the bridge. But, if not, there is a small bit of a proper fence by the folks walking towards the bridge :-)) Maybe view Large, please :-) There is actually water that flows under the bridge so I will also add this to 'Sight & Sound'. Have used "Bridge Over Troubled Water" by Simon & Garfunkel a couple of times so have chosen instead a cover version by Jadyn Rylee & Sina.
