This is the Aylesbury Arm of the Grand Union Canal. It terminates 50 yards or so from where I took this shot. This is a 20 minute walk from home and I often pass here on the way to do some food shopping at M & S :-) Don't normally take my camera but always have my phone. The weather was good on this day so thought it was worth taking a photo :-) The Aylesbury Arm was opened in 1814 and the canal rises 94 feet 8 inches from Marsworth to Aylesbury. There are 16 narrow locks that only allow one narrowboat at a time. This was necessary to save precious water. As there is a bridge in my photo I have, for "Sight & Sound", chosen "Love Can Build A Bridge by The Judds. Pitstone Windmill stands in a large field near the parish boundary of Ivinghoe and Pitstone in Buckinghamshire. It is now owned by the National Trust. It is thought to have been first built circa 1627 as this date is carved on part of the framework of the windmill. This is the earliest date to be found on any windmill in the British Isles. Such a structure would have had to have frequent repairs made to it, so it is quite possible the mill predates 1627. Over the years must have gone past this scene several hundred times and always thought the lonely tree would make a good photo opportunity. It is only some 8 miles from home. In fact many moons ago I did take the occasional photo here. On 20 April this year I was taken with the yellow foreground and the cloud formation. Nearby there is a parking space for two or three cars and it was empty! I stopped and took several dozen photos.....as you would! Also, made me think of "Only the Lonely" by Roy Orbison. Yesterday I lost the Internet connection. My provider said the problem had been identified and I would hear once the problem was sorted. I have not heard from the provider. However, I have just found out that I can log back in to the Internet. There should be an illuminated light on the Router but the light is NOT illuminated. Perhaps I should just assume all is now okay but this all seems a bit odd to me. Hopefully, I won't suddenly disappear from ipernity!!!!! SATURDAY SELF-CHALLENGE 1 FEB 2020 PANORAMIC PHOTOGRAPHY Have been away for a few days.....again :-) Some problems since we returned so I am falling behind...but I will catch-up...eventually :-) This is modern architecture in Aylesbury. My little Nikon P7800 has a panoramic (16x9) setting so this is what I used. Thank you very much :-) SATURDAY SELF-CHALLENGE 11 JAN 2020 INCONGRUOUS, UNUSUAL, SURPRISING OR ABSURD CONNECTIONS (OBJECTS, PEOPLE, ANIMALS....etc.) Pussy Cats are supposed to rest/sleep on or in beds that have been bought for them! Suitcases are for clothes etc. and once they have been used they go back into storage in the loft! There should not be any connection between Pussy Cats and Suitcases :-))). We went to the Isle of Wight for New Year and returned home late on 2 January. We unpacked this suitcase on 2 January and the intention was to put it back in the loft on 3 January. Every time I think about trying to put it back in the loft Mizzie runs and jumps on it! I guess it must be 70 to 80 years old or maybe even older. Explored! Thank you very much :-) SATURDAY SELF-CHALLENGE 28 DEC 2019 UNFOCUSED ABSTRACT PHOTOGRAPHY This started life as a unfocused shot of a digital clock on our Microwave. I then decided to add the Droste effect :-) And, for 'Sight and Sound' ~ 'Time' is involved here so I have chosen "She Don't Care About Time" written by Gene Clark from Gene's 1973 album "Roadmaster". The song originally featured on the B-side of the Byrds 1965 single "Turn! Turn! Turn!". Gene Clark was the Byrds main songwriter between 1964 and early 1966.
