The building in the foreground is part of the Blavatnik School of Government in Oxford. In the background is part of the Andrew Wiles Building (Mathematical Institute). There is also some hoardings here that are hiding a building site where a massive development is underway. It will be 'The Stephen A. Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities' and I believe it should open in 2025. It looks like it will be a very photogenic building and, hopefully, I will still be here to take some photos :-)
There's a lot of glass here so for 'Sight & Sound' it will be "Glass Hearts by The Desert Rose Band.

Back to one of my favourite Oxford buildings.
For 'Sight & Sound' "Colours" seems to be the logical choice. Pretty sure I have previously used Donovan's version but not sure if I have previously used this live version by Donovan & Joan Baez at the Newport Folk Music Festival. No matter, I'm sure we can use any version more than once :-)

My photo is of the Sheldonian Theatre in Oxford.
Turning to 'Sight & Sound' my link will take a little bit of explaining. The Sheldonian Theatre is mostly used for university ceremonies and concerts. So, an obscure 'concert' link would be "Guadalupe" (written by Tom Russell) played by Gretchen Peters and husband Barry Walsh at a concert....somewhere...But, not at the Sheldonian! Recently I was very fortunate to see Gretchen at The Stables, Wavendon on her farewell UK Tour.

The only link I could come up with for 'Sight and Sound' is "Ragged Old Flag" By Johnny Cash. The flag here is far from being 'ragged' methinks!

Part of Trinity College in Oxford.
For Sight & Sound I think I have come up with one of my more obscure links.
I found a definition of 'Trinity' that said "The English word "Trinity" comes from Latin "Trinitas", meaning "the number three".
I have, therefore, chosen "Three Days" by Carly Simon.
I'll be quiet now :-)

Doesn't seem possible that Helen passed away almost 4 months ago. I am slowly getting there and decided it was time to get out with my camera. Been to Oxford a few times and will now start posting to ipernity. Maybe a bit 'hit and miss' initially but I hope to be able to regularly post images and start commenting upon other folks photos.
This shot of the King's Arms was taken at the corner of Parks Road, Holywell Street, Broad Street and Catte Street.
Have often thought about going into the King's Arms for a drink but it's not possible to have anything alcoholic when I have always driven to Oxford. Perhaps I should, on occasions, take the bus!!

One from the Archives where I decided it needed a panoramic crop :-)
On the left is Merton College, Oxford. Merton College was founded in 1264 by Walter de Merton, Lord Chancellor and Bishop of Rochester. It is claimed to be the oldest college in Oxford. But, apparently, this has been disputed by Balliol College and University College. I don't know if there has been any agreement to which college is actually the oldest!
In the distance is Magdalen Tower. The Tower is one of the oldest parts of Magdalen College. Built of stone from 1492, when the foundation stone was laid, its bells were hung ready for use in 1505 and completed by 1509. It is 144 feet (44 m) high and dominates the eastern entrance to the city of Oxford.
When looking for a 'Sight & Sound' link I didn't think I would find a song called "College". But, surprisingly, I found "College" by Pat Green. I was going to say I hadn't heard of Pat Green but, actually, I think I do have one of Pat's albums tucked away...somewhere :-)

In my opinion, 'Everywhere' you look there is always something to photograph at Waddesdon Manor.
This leads me to use the song "Everywhere" by Fleetwood Mac as my tribute to Christine McVie who has passed away. Such sad, sad news. I don't think we will ever see the like of her again but, at least, there will always be the music.
"Everywhere" was written by Christine and Christine performed lead vocals. The track features on Fleetwood Mac's 14th studio album "Tango in the Night" released in 1987.
Rest in Peace, Christine.

This was taken from within the grounds of Waddesdon Manor. I think this view includes part of the Windmill Hill Walk that I have yet to complete in its entirety :-)
If I am correct hidden away in the distance is the 'Flint House'. I can just about make it out at full screen :-)
Extract from the Waddesdon Manor website -
“Winner of the RIBA House of the Year Award in 2015, the Flint House was commissioned by Lord Rothschild and designed by Charlotte Skene Catling of Skene Catling de la Peña. In the form of an elongated, stepped wedge, Flint House sits in the heart of the Waddesdon Estate, on a chalk seam that runs from Norfolk to Dover. It was exploring this geology which inspired the architect, Charlotte Skene Catling, to create a building clad in flint which seems to erupt from the surrounding earth. The flints, knapped by hand by Sussex flint-workers The Flintman Company, are graduated in colour, steely grey at ground level rising to smooth white chalk blocks at the top. Facing the main building is a similarly stepped, smaller annex. The interiors of the house were designed by David Mlinaric.”
