Mostly stands of huge trees on open slopes, ca. 8000 ft, in the Sierra Nevada. An unusual occurrence of a plant more typical of the semiarid scrub! We first learned of such occurrences at Rock Creek, in the Sierra Nevada, but have now seen them all over the eastern slopes of the Sierra.
