This one is seriously big! Junipers in Germany only ever grwo to the sizes of bushes.

Yeah, it's another one of those unusual occurrences. Down in the semiarid scrub, where junipers are a typical element of the flora, they're usually bushy! Years ago a friend from back east said they were just bushes, not trees... ;)

You see them called "Sierra junipers" sometimes, but AFAIK it's just an unusual occurrence of ordinary junipers. I have a whole collection on such occurrences (which needs updating; recent finds haven't been added):

Wonderful collection! I really think they're different to the ones in Klamath Co. Ours are scrubby and, to my eye, unphotogenic. This is an unusually attractive one north of town:

Looks just like the ones around here! (I.e., in western Nevada). But environmental conditions have a really big effect.
