Thanks! This is looking more or less SE across the site of Gold Hill, on the Comstock Lode, from the old Virginia City road--now a very rough jeep track. The large excavations in the foreground date from the 70s, while the old spoil heaps, headframes, etc. are latter 19th century. There's a current operation, for gold, barely visible in the hills in the middle distance.
