Bizz Johnson trail
An old railroad grade, now a hiking/biking/horse trail, between Susanville and Westwood Junction, California. Here's the BLM write-up:
www.blm.gov/ca/st/en/fo/eaglelake/bizztrail.html
This is one of several tunnels along the eastern part of the route, which follows the Susan River.
Susanville and the Susan River are named for Susan Roop, daughter of Isaac Roop, first territorial governor of what was then Nevada Territory. At that time, before a formal survey had been done, this area was thought to lie in Nevada.
